Kathy Clark – Crawford, CO

We are Roger and Kathy Clark from a very small town named Crawford in
southwestern Colorado with about 300 people in it. We have two children, Tonya and
Kraig, and five grandchildren.

Our nearest grocery store is 17 miles away from us, so  you want to make sure you have supplies on hand. We have been doing this going on 5 years this December. I can remember how excited I was to become a new rep.  Understand we are just simple farmer/rancher folks who enjoy life, hard work and good food. Alison’s Pantry certainly provides us with wonderful food. We raise chinchillas for pets and Dexter Cattle, a smaller homestead beef that is very friendly.

We love so many of the products, but one thing we really like is all of the seafood.
Small grocery stores just cannot compete with our fish, we also use many of the frozen
fruits and vegetables, our favorites are just to numerous to say.
My monthly sales are consistently good and I attribute that to good products, but also
to making my customers important to me. They truly have become my friends. I like to
find out each month what is going on in their lives. The North Fork Valley, which is
comprised of several small towns has been wonderful to me and my business.

If I had one thing to tell new reps it would be to not treat your customers as just
customers, treat them like friends, which they are and you will find success. Hear their
stories, become a good listener. If something goes on sell that they love, call them and
ask them if they would like you to order it. Make them special in your life, and
ultimately give God the Glory. MERRY CHRISTMAS

Thanks, Kathy Clark

Troi Williams – Shoshoni, WY

Hello, my name is Troi Williams. I am an Alison’s Pantry Representative in Shoshoni, Wyoming. The name of my Alison’s Pantry business is Grandma’s Pantry.  I have a wonderful son and daughter, son-in-law and daugher-in-law and they have blessed me with six amazing grand babies ages 11, 11, 10, 10, 6 and 3 (no twins).  In addition to Alison’s Pantry, I work as a substitute teacher at Shoshoni Elementary School, and I am the publisher and editor of our town’s small weekly newspaper.

I first became acquainted with Alison’s Pantry several years ago when the opportunity to become a rep came to my attention. It was just a year after my family had been in a nearly fatal car accident. My injuries were pretty serious, and our medical bills were through the roof. My husband Dana and I were looking for ways to try to supplement our income when I found Alison’s Pantry. Due to his work schedule, he helped occasionally when he had time, but that wasn’t often.

During that time, I served customers only in the Shoshoni area and east end of Fremont County. It was during that time I fell in love with the products Alison’s offered.  I hadn’t been a rep long when our life circumstances changed again, and it was very hard to put in the time required to do a good job, so I stepped down.

We both loved the AP products, so I continued to buy them from other reps over the years until the summer of 2014, when an opportunity for our area opened again.  This time, Dana and I discussed this opportunity at length and decided to dive in and commit to seriously working and growing our AP business as a team. We were amazed at how the company had grown through the years and were very excited to become reps again.

When we started in July, we took our customer list and went to each home on the list, introducing ourselves and handing out catalogs. We were so excited to attend the 2014 Food Show the following September and learn as much as we could about all the products we carry. The food shows are always an excellent tool for reps. We came back equipped to tell our customers anything they needed or wanted to know about our products, because we were blessed with the opportunity to sample them and learn about them early on in our AP adventure. We had big plans for growth.

DanaTroi Williams Beach

Then, in December of 2015, the love of my life, best friend and team partner passed away. Needless to say, it was a hard blow and left me reeling, not knowing what to do next or how to do it. After some thought and overwhelming support from my own family and from my Alison’s Pantry family and customers, I decided Dana and I had started this adventure together, and I wasn’t about to quit. Even though I wasn’t exactly sure how to move forward, I was determined to do it. And, I’m so happy I did.

I think the most important aspect of my AP business is knowing that even more than just offering high quality products to our customers, we are in the people business. Without first caring for our customers, it doesn’t matter what we offer.  I believe it’s essential to have a genuine empathy for my customers. As a result, they have become my friends. I listen carefully to what each of them share with me. This isn’t limited to things related to AP. It includes the things that are going on in their daily lives, their families, special events, celebrations and adversities.  I always follow up with them to let them know I am truly interested in and concerned with how they are doing. In my view, this is what friends do and it plays a critical part in my relationships with each of them. When what they tell me relates to AP products or ordering/delivery, I pay close attention to those things as well, seeking the best possible ways to better serve them. It’s crucial to always have a positive attitude, because even if you aren’t aware of it, they can tell when you don’t.

Webinars are also an extremely useful tool for reps and customers alike. I always invite all of my customers to join me for our webinars each month (when not for reps only), occasionally doing a drawing for those who choose to attend.

I deliver to all my customers, currently free of charge. With customers throughout Fremont County, I deliver to customers as far as 50 miles away each month.

I do three drawings and one contest monthly and every four to six months have a contest for my existing customers to encourage them to refer new customers. I also offer  a 5% discount for each customer who refers an ordering friend. I don’t put any limits on this. I also do a drawing for a larger prize each quarter or six months to encourage my customers to refer family and friends to Grandma’s Pantry.  One of my customers always wins a great prize they can talk about with their co-workers, friends and neighbors, leading to potential customers.

I have a set schedule each month for reminding my customers that it is time to order. I have set times for emailing, texting and calling my customers the week prior to order week as well as throughout order week.  I’m certainly not a Facebook guru, as yet, but I am working to incorporate my Grandma’s Pantry page into that schedule, as well. It is a great tool for connecting with customers about ordering, how to use some of our products and to announce prize winners. I send a “Pre-order Week” letter the week before order week. Then,  a “Monday Letter” goes out the morning of the first day of order week. Reminder texts and emails are sent Tuesday through Saturday for those I haven’t yet heard from or who haven’t yet placed an order. Calls are made Thursday through Saturday for those who don’t text or email. I keep sending texts until I hear back from them or they have placed an order. No answer IS NOT A NO. Many of them get back with me fairly quickly. Several of them tell me thank you for reminding them throughout the week because they’ve been so busy with their jobs and family.

During delivery times, I try to take a few minutes to visit with each customer and when they try something new to ask how they like it. My family has been amazing at helping me with deliveries. My mom and dad especially love to visit with the customers, too.

Alison’s Pantry offers so many great products, and I have so many favorites its hard to name just one, my list is really long. I will say I do love our Daily’s Bacon, as do the grand kids! I also love most of our Soup Supreme soups, Janey Lou Cinnamon Rolls, anything Lehi Roller Mills and all of our wonderful spices and mixes.

Alison’s Pantry has been and continues to be an amazing journey that I hope to continue for years to come. Thank you to everyone who works so hard to make Alison’s Pantry run smoothly and to be such a great company to work with. I am very thankful for my RSM, Becky. She is an amazing lady and has helped me so much!

I am thankful to be a part of the wonderful Alison’s Pantry family.

Pamela Schilling – Upton, Wyoming

I’m Pam Schilling and, my husband, Steve, and I live on the family ranch north of Upton, Wyoming.  Life is never dull or the same from day to day here!  We have a commercial Angus cow/calf operation, and all the ranch duties that involves! Our family has been truly blessed to be able to grow up in the fresh air and beautiful country! Steve and I married in 2003 and combined our family with my two kids, Travis and Mandy.  Both are adults now and Travis added to the family with his wife, Shenna. They in turn gave us two beautiful grandchildren that bring laughter and sunshine into our lives.

Becoming an AP Rep was totally unexpected; I had never thought about it until my name was brought up to the regional manager!  I haven’t regretted it – I have a wonderful customer base and have made some great friends! I try very hard to have good communication with ALL of them.  So many of them thank me every time I call, text or email them to remind them the due date is near.  Having been a customer first, I know I always appreciated a reminder – life gets busy and we are all prone to forgetting from time to time!  I also find being flexible with delivering orders is much easier than just a set date and time.  Life not only gets busy, it happens, and there are times that you cannot make the appointed time. I try not to make extra trips, but incorporate having to make a trip to town with delivering the groceries!!  In turn they reciprocate by coming to the ranch if it happens again!!

Since I make a lot of my meals from scratch, some of my favorite products are the pre-made ones… #7944 mashed potatoes are wonderful and easy to make, and the #7151 frozen doughnuts are a particular favorite around here anytime, but especially on the weekends!!

My sales have picked up!  I tried everything at first – ads in the newspaper, going to craft fairs, etc., but the best advertisement for me was my customers!! The food sells itself; it is wonderful!!  I try to provide the best customer care service I can.  Together it seems to have been a good combination because I have gotten more new customers through word of mouth than any printed ads!!  Thanks Alison’s Pantry for giving me something that I enjoy doing!!

How Two AP Reps Make Their Businesses A Family Affair In Mesquite, NV

hafen children 1

Margaret Hafen and Madison Julien

Several years ago Victoria was at one of her children’s games when one of her friends gave her an Alison’s Pantry Catalog. Just to be nice and supportive she placed an order and also gave a catalog to her brother, Nephi.  Needless to say, Victoria and Nephi became faithful customers.

Victoria’s children would get excited when she brought a catalog home and they would take turns looking through it and circling and initialing the items they wanted. Victoria then would have to limit them to one or two items each because sometimes it seemed everything was circled! Some of her family favorites are the Bosco Pizza Sticks, Popcorn chicken, Turkey Burgers and the wonderful seasonings Alison’s Pantry has to offer.

Nephi placed orders for his family and loved to try new things.  He enjoys fixing himself hash brown patties and sausage patties in the morning. His children love the maple, sausage tornados.

One day Victoria received a call from Nephi saying that the Alison’s Pantry rep was no longer going to do it. He was thinking about doing it so that he could continue to get Alison’s Pantry and give the children an opportunity to work.  Victoria didn’t want to be left out so they decided to do it together. Nephi and Victoria’s spouses have been very supportive. Their teenage high school daughters are very involved in the business. They pass out catalogs, place orders and call or text customers every month to remind them when orders are due. Their middle school sons are always available to help unload the semi-truck, deliver orders that are nearby and help with the inventory. All of the earnings go to the four teenagers for them to put away for college and missions. This has been a wonderful family business!

Jennifer Kumm – Holyoke, CO

Greetings from extreme Northeast Colorado!  My name is Jennifer Kumm, and I’ve been the Holyoke, CO, rep for almost 3 years.  I am a veterinary technician, and my husband, Marlin, is head internet tech for our local phone company. We have a wonderful daughter, Morganne, who is a high school freshman.  I’m heavily involved in whatever activities our daughter does…FFA, 4H, Horses, Swimming, etc.  Personal hobbies include walking our two amazing dogs and reading.

I know most of my customers personally and enjoy getting to know more people as they become customers.  My favorite part of being a rep is giving rural people another choice for their grocery needs.  As a family, we love the variety, great prices, and high quality products in our own meals.  We are one of our own best customers every month and feel that’s extremely important to success. Since we get everything we possibly can from AP, it’s hard to pick favorite products. However, a few that we just couldn’t be without are flat iron steaks, raspberry muffin mix, cinnamon rolls, and too many of our fruits and veggies to name.

Word of mouth is the best advertisement in a place where everyone knows (or is related to) everyone else. I reward quite heavily for referrals.  I’m really looking forward to having some tasting parties this year to help grow my business. Reminders are also so key for us.  People are just crazy-busy these days and will very rarely order without a gentle reminder…or two, or three, or four! Advice that I would give to new reps is that preparation ahead of time is key for a successful delivery/pickup day. Additionally, learn to roll with stuff… whether it be changes, delayed trucks, etc. It’s all just stuff;

I’ve had wonderful help and support from my niece, Haley Notter, who referred me and continues to be an inspiration.  Also, I am super excited about all the changes that AP has made and is continuing to make. The shortened delivery time is extremely helpful in acquiring and keeping customers.  I appreciate our very pleasant and efficient support staff and the family feel of the company in general. Really looking forward to the website and boxing of customer orders. Blessed to be working for a family run company that is also forward thinking. Be sure to stop by if you’re ever in our area!

Meet Peter Chinchay, our AP Accountant

“My name is Peter Chinchay, originally from the beautiful country of Peru.  I have lived in the US for about 23 years.  My wife is Penny and she is from Utah.  We met down in Peru and she is the reason that I live in the US now.  She said that I was her best souvenir ever that she brought from Peru.  We have 5 children from the ages of 7 to 18.  I have lived all 23 years in Utah so I love cold weather and the snow.  Sometimes we go to Peru for Christmas so we can be by the beach since it is summer down there at that time of year.  Since I am from South America, I love soccer.  I also enjoy traveling and riding my bike every day.

When I first came to this country, I wanted to be a Flight attendant, but it didn’t happen so I pursued my actual career which was Accounting.  I love working with numbers and enjoy talking to the reps.

I first worked for Alison’s Pantry back in the late 1990’s for about 3-4 years with several different owners. Then I was recruited again in 2009 and have been here since then.  I really enjoy working here.  It is a great company; small but a great place to work.  My favorite Alison’s Pantry Products are steak, soups and some of the seasonings.  I think the hardest part about my job is dealing with reps who don’t pay for their orders and trying to help them understand that the money they collect belongs to Alison’s Pantry and they should respect that.  But overall, most of the reps are great people and love our products.”

Thank you, Peter, for all you do at Alison’s Pantry!!  We are so lucky to have you!!

Lisa Bruegger – Lusk, WY

Lisa Bruegger and family.jpgMy husband Travis and I have been married for 18 years.  We both grew up in Lusk then went to college before moving back and getting married in 98′.  We have 2 boys…Ryan is 13 and in the 8th grade and Cory is 10 and in the 5th grade.

We are proud to be a part of Niobrara County and very glad we are raising our boys here too.

I have been an Alison’s Pantry rep since Oct of 2009.  A customer approached me about it and I decided to look into it.  She said my location was good and I have a nice sized garage area that works well for this.  There had been reps here in the past but I had not personally ordered AP until I became a rep.

I love this company, I cannot express how nice it is to know who you work for.  Josh, Jessee, Kim, Vicki, Lori and Becky are all available for any question or concern, etc.  They will answer a phone call or email instantly, respond personally to Facebook questions no matter how simple or complex the question is 🙂 and appear live on webinars….what more could we ask for! 🙂

There are many things I like about being a rep but mainly I would have to say that it’s as close as you can get to being self employed.  I like that I can set my own work schedule and be able to do so many things that you cannot do when you are at a 9-5 job.  It allows me time to substitute at our schools and work with my family during haying and other things we do.

I have been doing this for a few years now and I usually get asked the question, “What do you do to have consistently high sales month after month?”  AND I always have a hard time answering that!  I do not think I do anything “special” or have a “secret” method for selling.  I think that doing the work pays off.  Yes, AP takes effort.  I use the printable customer list from Portals and don’t quit contacting customers until 5 pm on the day the order closes.  I make phone calls, email, text and Facebook msg every possible customer on that list.  I dread getting catalogs to those customers that don’t have an order that particular month but I get out and do it anyway.  I promise I don’t do anything that other reps aren’t doing and I know other reps are outdoing me on the tasting parties and facebook posts but I think my customers just respond to good old fashioned customer service!!

I have several favorite AP products…I have ordered the #4835 and #9137 Daily’s Precooked Bacon the most I would say.  I love the Soup Supreme soups and honestly my personal order each month is a mess but I like to try so many things and be able to tell customers what my family thought, etc.

My advice is to be organized, take care of your customers and get the job done each month. Customers like the products and if they have a catalog to look at, chances are they will mark some pages and eventually place an order.  If you would like someone to become a customer but don’t have a connection with them, ask one of your current customers that might be friends, etc., to share a book with them and offer a referral credit if they place an order.

Thank you,

Lisa Bruegger

Meet Vicki with Rep Support

vicki_n

We would like you to meet Vicki from Rep support, one of the important reasons that our company moves along smoothly from day to day.  Vicki has been with Alison’s Pantry for two years, she began as a Rep in SLC and when the job opening came up at the warehouse, she decided to give it a try.  One of the reasons she is so good at what she does is because she understands how it all works from the perspective of the  AP Rep.  The thing she loves about her job is getting to know and work with all the Reps. She also is the person responsible for the majority of the social media posts.

The hardest thing about her job is keeping track of almost 400 reps. she makes a lot of notes and reminders.

Vicki is married to her husband of 5 years; they have a combined family of 4 boys from Vicki’s previous marriage and 1 daughter from her husband’s previous marriage. The two older boys and the daughter are married and together they have 3 grandchildren.  The third son is currently serving an LDS mission in Texas and the youngest son, just graduated from high school.

Vicki loves to travel in her spare time and she writes a personal weekly travel and food blog at www.lovetravelwilleat.com.She loves to cook and try new recipes.

blog

Vicki loves many of our AP products, but her favorites are #9134 Janey Lou’s cinnamon rolls, #8925 Beehive Rolls and #3298 Daily’s Center cut Bacon.  Her family’s favorite family meal is the Soup Supreme or Blount soups served in the Janey Lou’s soup bowls.  Thank you Vicki for all your hard work!

Sally Wells – Encampment, Wyoming

sally-wells-familyHi, I am Sally Wells.  I live in Encampment, Wyoming.  My day job is in a school district office in Saratoga.  I have been an Alison’s Pantry Rep for 4 years.  I became a rep when the local lady decided to stop and I didn’t know where I would get my Garlic Supreme (#6112).  It is my favorite spice.  If it is too coarse, you can put it in a pepper mill and make it finer.  It is great on steaks and veggies, especially bacon wrapped (#4835) asparagus spears (#3127) on the grill.  My husband of 30 years, Jim, also likes the pre-cooked bacon and the funny bones (#2472).  I have two grown boys.  Dallas’s favorite is clam chowder, (#9167).  Jacob likes anything healthy, lots of meat like the flame seared pork shoulder (#6878) or chicken breasts (#6519).  Since Jacob joined the Army, my food bill has decreased a bit.

I like receiving my orders by email.  I reply within 48 hours with a copy of the order to confirm I’ve got it right and let the customer know an approximate delivery date.  My customers really like that.  I have started getting text orders from several customers and I let them know right away I got it.  Then follow-up with an order total and date of delivery.  I have a few phone customers.  I really like it when they catch me on the computer and I can enter their orders live.  I have a notebook in my purse and by my phone for those “Oh, I need …”    I send reminder notices by email and text mostly.  I still have a few I call.

I really like being an Alison’s Pantry Rep.  I’ve never had any problems making things right if a customer is unhappy with a product.  Unhappy customers are few and far between…
